Itinerary
Day 1
Arrive in Tokyo and collect your rental car with a clear briefing on expressways, toll flow and parking systems. Check in to a parking-friendly hotel, then take a gentle ‘confidence drive’ through simple corridors before switching to walkable neighbourhood exploration. Keep the afternoon light with a temple lane, riverside skyline or shopping street loop depending on energy. Evening is free for dining, with curated restaurant picks and practical parking guidance near busy areas.
Day 2
Depart Tokyo for Hakone with a timed route designed to avoid peak congestion and include clean rest stops for coffee and comfort breaks. Follow a flexible viewpoint circuit around volcanic landscapes, ropeway panoramas and lakeside moments near Lake Ashi, adjusting to weather and queues. Add an optional craft street stop for souvenirs or local snacks, then check into an onsen-style stay. Enjoy a slow evening of soaking and relaxed dining with vegetarian-friendly guidance and clear notes for the next morning’s Fuji timing.
Day 3
Start early for Fuji Five Lakes to maximise your chance of clear Mt. Fuji visibility, focusing on Kawaguchiko viewpoints and short lakeside walks. Choose an optional museum or café stop, or keep it nature-first with a quiet trail depending on season and time. Return towards Tokyo using the cleanest toll route and backups if traffic builds, with suggested final photo pull-offs en route. Drop the car and connect onward with clear timing notes for gates, airport access or city drop-off.
